Cheerleading is an iconic American sport, the Upper Perkiomen High School cheerleaders are no exception.
The cheerleaders have been at all the football and basketball games showing Upper Perk Spirit by doing various cheers, stunts, and dances.
They also perform at the pep rallies, sell goodies during community day, and are more around the school than students may expect.
The cheerleaders practice every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at the ED center with their coach Sarah. They practice perfecting their skills to perform their best at the numerous events they participate in, in and outside of school.
When interviewed, cheerleader Brooke Erb told the WSJ, “It’s a lot of work and dedication but in the end, you’ll be happy with the results.” Another member of the team, Emma Polloni, added, “It’s a lot of fun and a good way to make new friends but it’s also a lot of hard work and you need to be committed and prepared for lots of fun but also a lot of drama.”
Fall tryouts begin in late July but the team is always looking for new members so be sure to try out and join the squad if your interested.
