The school’s auditorium buzzed with excitement as students showcased their creativity in a costume contest, featuring everything from cows to cookies. The event offered a great platform for students to showcase their creativity through their costumes. Each outfit represented the individual styles and interests of the participants, featuring a variety of colors, patterns, and innovative designs. This variety not only highlighted students’ personalities and interests but also contributed to a vibrant and engaging atmosphere during the event.
Held on Halloween, the contest spanned throughout multiple locations within the school, including the library, the main entrance, and the main office. This strategic arrangement allowed the judges to remain at their designated work areas while still engaging in the efficient voting process. By distributing the voting areas, this event created a lively atmosphere that encouraged student participation from all areas of the school.
Unfortunately, certain categories were removed due to a lack of participants. Mrs. Lychock has stated that
next year she plans to “[no longer] do categories…just the top 5.” This decision aims to simplify the format while still providing acknowledgment of standout participants with a great and diverse range of styles and performances. Despite the adjustments, the contest had a total of 12 winners, showcasing participants with diverse appearances and performances.
Throughout the contest, the energy was all there, students engaged in spirited conversations about their costumes and their creative inspirations towards the process of their creations! The air was filled with jokes and playful banter, adding to the lively atmosphere of the occasion. Many students enhanced their costumes with small props such as studded animals, and [magic] wands, which helped add touches to make their outfits more unique and charming. Care was taken to ensure these props were not left behind by students. The event not only created a sense of community but also allowed students to celebrate their creativity in a festive environment.
