Throughout the years, Upper Perk has kept up with their traditions, activities, and events. One of these annual events, Powder Puff, is quickly approaching.

Powder Puff is a girls’ flag football tournament. This year, it will take place on May 16th and consist of multiple teams playing in a round-robin style tournament.

The tournament is run by Ms. Cascioli and hosted in the Upper Perkiomen High School’s football stadium at 3:15 pm. The games will be open to spectators, including both students and community members, with tickets sold at the gate for $3 each. The proceeds go to support the junior class.

All teams will be guaranteed to play four games in the round-robin section of the tournament. Later in the day, the four teams with the most wins will go on to play a single-elimination tournament with semi-finals and finals to determine the 2025 Powder Puff champions.

Team sign-ups began in March and ended on April 18th, with a sign-up fee of $15 per person. Individuals could sign up to captain a team of 8-12 people by going to Ms. Cascioli and receiving an information packet.

In the packets, Ms. Cascioli told the WSJ that the captains gave “their name, grade, shirt size, number, and [each team] picked a team name and color.”

Emma Davidheiser, a member of last year’s winning team, Crazy Pitches, led by team captain Morgan Robinson, told the WSJ about her experience with Powder Puff. She said that to prepare for the tournament, they “had practices and learned plays.” These practices were coached by football players Dylan Bieber and Logan O’Donnell.

As for the tournament, Davidheiser said, “We dominated, like every time. We had a couple of teams that were challenging, but we still pulled out the win.” Although the Crazy Pitches were the winners of the tournament, several other teams came out and played well in their games.

With the tournament getting closer, students, staff, and community members are all encouraged to come out and support the girls on the 16th. Those who can’t attend can also view a livestream through the UPTV.
