Heckert tells the WSJ that Cardinal Point saw this as the perfect position for him because he lived near the school and “the environment fit his personality.” Since starting his new job on November 2nd, Heckert says he is already learning many things while meeting new people at the school. He tells WSJ, “that he is certainly enjoying his new position at UPSD.”

Throughout his entire career, Heckert has been in the guard profession. Before coming to Upper Perkiomen High School, he worked patrolling at Dorney Park for four years. When asked why he chose to be a security guard, he explained that he wants to protect people, while also getting to work and connect with others.

He graduated from Bridgewater Raritan West High School in New Jersey and lived there for 47 years before moving to Pennsylvania. He now resides in the Lehigh Valley area which is somewhat close to our school.

Heckert had to have certain certifications to ensure he was fit for his new position and his occupation as a security guard in general. He did his most extensive training at the Dorney Park water park. Some of his certifications include Act 235, Act 67, and Act 126. These training certifications were required for all the security guards in our school as well, not just Heckert.

Mr. Heckert looks forward to continuing his journey at Upper Perkiomen High School and getting to do the thing he loves most; Keeping others safe.
