Letter From the Editor
By: Julianna Keller
With graduation approaching, I feel as though this letter should bring more to the table than talking about the little things. As a senior who has been with the Walt Street Journal since its establishing year, I am so proud to see how much it has grown. Going from simple editions to a fully handwritten edition to a website and then all the way to its very own podcast, the WSJ is making great strides.
What our readers don’t see behind the scenes are the department meetings where all these ideas come to life. One thing I don’t think a lot of individuals realize is that the WSJ has never been “just a class” -it’s a family.
None of our editions would have been possible without the help of our fantastic teachers and staff, and with Teacher Appreciation Week fresh on our minds, it feels appropriate to honor them. Every month, we send out a Faculty Edit Document to some of UPHS teachers to help us perfect our articles, and they never disappoint.
Not only that, but when distributing physical copies of the newspaper to homerooms, we are greeted with smiles and much-appreciated feedback. UPHS Teachers are surely our number one fans, and we are forever grateful to them.
Graduation is right around the corner, and I know all of our seniors are more than ready. Whether you’re feeling sad, happy, or both, this is a bittersweet moment for everyone. Be sure to visit our “How to: Graduate” article on page 4. Good luck, Seniors!
I want to thank Mrs. Herron for giving me the opportunity to do something I love. When I joined, I didn’t know what Journalism was, I only knew it involved writing. I wasn’t prepared to be a part of a family as close as the WSJ, and I will always think back to this newspaper. Thank you for going on this journey with me.
XOXO, The WSJ
