School’s almost out, and with that comes Great Outdoors Day! This year, a variety of UPHS clubs will be hosting an outdoor carnival with activities and refreshments for students to enjoy.
Each year, Great Outdoors Day (GOD) acts as a celebration of the Senior Class’s last day of regular high school classes. Clubs from around the school come together and host different activities and booths to create an outdoor UPHS carnival.
This year, there will be a total of 16 clubs participating. The Reading Olympics will be selling balloon animals. Speech and debate will be hosting the dunk tank, similar to last year. Student Council will be bringing out the inflatable obstacle course, and the Art Club will be doing henna/temporary body art.
Tennis tournaments will take place at their respective courts, hosted by FBLA. There will also be some open lawn games like bocce, cornhole, ultimate frisbee, and horseshoe matches held by FCA and the Phys. Ed teachers.

Many clubs are selling food and drinks this year. The Leo’s Club will sell lemonade and Gatorade, and the Writers Club will vend iced coffee. For students who want something closer to a meal, Mr. Austin, representing the Drama Club, will be out grilling hot dogs and hamburgers, and the Link Crew will be selling pizza.
For those who might want a sweet treat to counter the heat, Club Esperanto will be selling nachos and ice pops, the sophomore class will be selling build-your-own sundaes, and the junior class will be selling Kona Ice. Additionally, a food truck selling waffles and ice cream. Make sure to go out and grab something to eat and some snacks to enjoy.
The schedule for lunch on Great Outdoors Day is first lunch from 9:27 to 9:57, second lunch from 10:02 to 10:32, and third lunch from 10:37 to 11:07.
