After a cold couple of months, Upper Perkiomen High School finally got a glimpse of summer at this year’s Mini-THON fundraising Summer event. “From 2014 to 2015, Upper Perk has hosted a Mini-THON, making this the 10th year!” Mr. Williamson said. This year’s theme was a “Beach Extravaganza,” including fun, games, and food.
Over 200 schools from Pennsylvania and neighboring states participate in their own Mini-THON to interpret Penn State’s “THON.” Unlike the 24-hour challenge of THON hosted at Penn State, Mini-THON only goes for one night. Similarly to THON, all donations go strictly toward families struggling with childhood cancer. This wide fundraiser is supported with the help of Four Diamonds, which is an organization with the mission of supporting families struggling with childhood cancer.

This year, the Upper Perkiomen School District was able to raise $5,167. This was only possible with plenty of help from Upper Perkiomen’s High School FBLA members, Mr. Williamson, other staff, the many students who attended and participated, and any outside members who donated.
Mini-THON was catered with Chick-fil-A and Alani. Additionally, participants had access to endless candy, snacks, drinks, and much much more. Bringing a touch of summer with merch, decorations, and props put a pause on this cold winter that the community has been experiencing.

On top of this, students had many choices for providing themselves with entertainment throughout the night. From volleyball, prizes, and raffles to inflatables and obstacle courses, all of their class members were presented with enjoyable opportunities.
It’s never too late to help someone. Four-Diamonds is accepting year-round donations for households struggling with childhood cancer. But it never hurts to have a little fun, any underclassmen can join next year for Upper Perks 2026 Mini-THON.
