While I was working on my article “Upper Perk’s Constellations” on the high school’s old planetarium, I referenced the past yearbooks in the library. In one of the yearbooks, I came across a club called the “Perk-O-Lator” which was essentially a news club, similar to the present-day UPTV and Multimedia but about thirty years prior. Around this club page were similar ones dedicated to computer technology and graphic design. Looking back on the black-and-white pages, one can acknowledge our lives today and the lives of students thirty to forty years ago weren’t much different. Our school has always prided itself on its community and the participation of its student body. Although the clubs themselves have changed in names, members, and technology, we’ve always held the same desire to bring the community together through factual and relevant information.
